I received a wish today from a colleague. I was touched, so I’m posting it here:
May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
For some reason, that blessing always brings to mind my favorite Irish blessing:
May the Lord bless our friends
and turn their faces to the sun,
And to those who are not our friends
may he turn their hearts,
And if he cannot turn their hearts
May he turn their ankles,
So we may recognize them by their limp.
