Forbes makes a guarantee to advertisers

Holy Shit!

This is huge. I really can’t believe that I’m reading that Forbes.com is going to guarantee their advertisers any results, and more importantly, I can’t believe that any advertiser will ever see their money given back to them. Forbes is taking a big risk on this one, but at the same time showing that they believe in internet marketing, and more importantly that they believe in their value as an advertising platform. On one hand I applaud them, on the other, I think they’re crazy for doing it. I also wonder if anyone will have the balls to do it either… (note: I sell advertising space in my day job, and while we don’t guarantee results, we do work our hardest to ensure that the client is always happy with the results of the campaign)

  • Yeah, it certainly doesn’t seem like a sensible business to have to make a guarentee based on something you don’t have any control over (the clients crappy product). I guess they have tried doing the numbers and found that they’ll gain by it. :-) Maybe they are lucky enough that most of their clients don’t have too crappy products.
